With in the scope of the organizations mandate, LDW role in Liberia democratic renewal and development include:
Governance, Elections and Research:
Under the governance, elections and research mode, LDW will design interventions which will assist in the democratic renewal of post war Liberia.
The intent is initiate and sustain dialogue and interaction between all Liberian stakeholders and to stimulate national debate on issues of relevance and significance to the political development of the country.
Along this line, LDW is launching its Dialogue for Democracy Series of national discussions from which will derive, Liberian Journal of Democracy.
LDW also have embarked in the publication of skills building practical tools for Legislative strengthening. There is also the program of Legislative Monitoring, aimed at informing the public and Liberians in the diaspora about happenings at the Legislature.

Peace Building, Community Outreach and Social Renewal:
LDW’s Peace building Community Outreach and social renewal programs are aimed at revitalizing the imperatives for sustaining the peace through initiatives that are responsive to the peculiarities of post-conflict Liberia.
The intent will be to provide a creative view by which Liberians of varying ethno-religious and social backgrounds can rally around.
Using the strategy of community leadership strengthening, LDW hopes to galvanize community actions through programs that responds to community needs and that draws on the teamwork from the communities.
Social renewal is realized when communities become conscious of the benefits to be derived through consensual community actions.

Human Rights Educations, Advocacy and Documentation:
Recognizing that human rights abuses of various forms have influenced and characterized the more than 14 years of practical war, LDW believes in continually empowering local communities about their constitutional and social rights and designing programs to reinforce the understanding and application of those rights.
The purpose is in two fold: to inform communities about their rights on one hand and to ward of abuses from government and other sources, on the other hand.
